Bolstering Collective Power to End the Incarceration of Women Worldwide
Throughout the month of September, the Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) is hosting a festival for feminist movements Crear | Résister | Transform, which seeks to foster creative resistance strategies by bringing together feminists from all over the world.
WOLA, IDPC, the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, WHRIN, Equis Justicia para las Mujeres, Corporación Humanas Colombia, and Mujeres Libres Colombia will be co-sponsoring the virtual workshop “Voices from the Frontlines: Bolstering Collective Power to End the Incarceration of Women Worldwide” on Friday, September 17 at 9:30 a.m. EDT (1:30 p.m. UTC). In this interactive session, formerly incarcerated women will come together to share their lived experiences, raise awareness of the impact of incarceration on women, and bolster collective power to advocate for forward-looking options for prison and drug policy reforms, with a strong feminist and intersectional perspective.
